On Holiday with God is an innovative travel program specifically designed to integrate one’s love for travel with one’s love of God. Under the direction of a seasoned tour guide, this program offers escorted trips, both day and extended, to exciting destinations, while setting aside sacred time for daily prayer and reflection.

Chicago is filled with an abundance of beautiful and historical churches and temples. Join us as we visit three of them. Our first stop is to St. Peter’s Catholic Church in the heart of the loop. From the outside, it appears as though the church was carved out of a city building. Inside are wonderful treasures to discover. Our next stop is the Chicago Loop Synagogue. With its magnificent wall of stained glass and sculptural Hands of Peace, you will find yourself welcomed into this prayer space. We will also visit the Chicago Temple-First United Methodist Church, the oldest church in Chicago. The building houses the church, offices and the Sky Chapel. We will have guided tours in each of the houses of worship.

Our grand lunch will be at the spectacular Walnut Room at Macy’s. You will have your choice of their famous Mrs., Herring’s Chicken Pot Pie or Herb Crusted Tilapia (please select one when you register) along with salad, rolls, coffee or tea and end with a delicious piece of Frango Mint Pie. You won’t want to miss this special day. Suzette Horyza, Mayslake Affiliate Member will be your retreat/tour director.

Facilitator: Suzette Horyza, Mayslake Affiliate will be our Retreat/Tour Director. Suzette has traveled down many paths including tour guide, artist, writer, program presenter, and event planner. All of these unique experiences have culminated in presenting retreats and tours for men and women of all ages. She is the coordinator for the “On Holiday With God” trips offered by Mayslake Ministries.
